About Us
In 1977, our founder Norman Choiniere, a University of Bridgeport graduate with a degree in accounting, opened Stop & Go Transmissions on State Street in Bridgeport, CT. Today, 44 years later, Stop & Go Transmissions continues the same legacy of Great Work At A Fair Price.
After graduating from Central Connecticut State University with a degree in marketing in 1986, Norman's son Ed Choiniere has owned and operated the facility for 35 years. With the same vision as his father, Ed has made Stop & Go Transmissions a staple in the Bridgeport community as the go-to for Automotive Repair.
Ed Choiniere Jr., the third generation, works side by side with Norm and Ed and specializes in vehicle diagnosis and customer service. E.J. began officially working with the family business in 2008, but has been helping since he was 12 years old.
However, they have not done it alone. All employees of Stop & Go Transmissions have contributed to the company's longstanding positive reputation. Along with Ed, our two senior employees include Angel and Leonaldy. Both of Stop & Go's techs have extensive experience in the Industry. Being with Stop & Go Transmissions since 1999, Angel has gained 23 years of Automotive Experience. Angel's younger brother Leonaldy joined the company in 2006, amassing 15 years with Stop & Go. Altogether, our techs have a combined 50+ years of experience and hold numerous certifications.
As an active Three-Generation family business with long-term employees, all members of the company have a vested interest in preserving the reputation that Stop & Go has achieved; thus ensuring the highest quality of repair for every customer.
